My office at the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) in Bracknell, about an hour's train ride from London. I worked at the ECMWF computer center 6/77-4/78. This was their temporary quarters before their permanent center was built near Reading. The office was above a shopping mall. Notice no computer terminal. This was just before terminals and remote computing at the desktop became possible. At this time, the actual computer, a Cray-1 was located 40 miles away near Oxford. To actually run programs on the Cray-1 you had to get on a bus and go there. Nikon F2 : Ektachrome

Victoria Station. We were on our way to Montreux, Switzerland. 30 years ago, this month. Strange to think, but how many of the people in this picture are still alive? Nikon F2 : Kodachrome
