Caffe Espresso, Berkeley California :: October 1978

The venerable Caffe Espresso on the north side of the UC Berkeley Campus, now long gone, was my "regular" cafe for some 15 years or more. At one time it had the best pizza in Berkeley. Then the pizza chef moved on to Chez Panisse and became famous (Michele, now retired). The Espresso (dubbed by detractors as the "Depresso") was a favorite hangout of the UCB Math Department, and Europeans. I miss it.
