A comment from: jim:Ah, yes, David Peel. A friend of mine wore a blue The Pope Smokes Dope T-shirt to his job at a bank on casual Friday. He was told it was not appropriate. A friend of mine, who taught music at SRJC, had an old Apple Corp LP of Peel's with that song on it. He kind've reminded me of The Fugs in a way.
rchrd replies: Yes, but The Fugs they weren't. At least in 1967 they were just plain annoying. Things may have gotten better later.
