All I've Seen - Caffe Figaro - Greenwich Village :: 1966 :: Comments
A comment from: Elaine:Hi,
I was referenced to your site by the guy who took those comparison shots of Greenwich Village in modern day. I'm kind of a recent transplant to NYC (though my parents were around here in the 80s) and lived in the West Village from 2004ish to 2006. It's amazing seeing how much it's changed from the 60s and 70s (makes me wish I had been alive to experience it) - and you're right, it's so much blander and suburban now. Even in the past year, what little that was left for people on a budget to afford was torn down and replaced with high-end shopping outlets.
Anyway, while I was there, I worked at Cafe Figaro. That place has survived, even though it's probably much, much changed from what it was like back when it was your neighborhood cafe.
Cheers!
Thanks. Whenever I visit NYC (which gets rarer and rarer these days) the contrast with my memories gets greater each time. So much change.
Thanks. --- rchrd
