The United States Invades Berkeley! The police riot at "People's Park" occured a few days before Memorial Day in 1969. So a big demonstration and protest was planned for Memorial Day. It included marchers, the Berkeley Police, and the California National Guard to keep law and order. More about People's Park 1969. Nikon F : Kodachrome

Interior, Caffe Espresso, Hearst at Euclid in Berkeley My local caffe for most of the 70's and 80's. The building is still there, but no longer as a cafe. Fondly missed. Nikon F2 : Kodachrome

The venerable Caffe Espresso on the north side of the UC Berkeley Campus, now long gone, was my "regular" cafe for some 15 years or more. At one time it had the best pizza in Berkeley. Then the pizza chef moved on to Chez Panisse and became famous (Michele, now retired). The Espresso (dubbed by detractors as the "Depresso") was a favorite hangout of the UCB Math Department, and Europeans. I miss it. Nikon F2 : Kodachrome
